Photography, Filming & Content Creation at HBT Collectables

HBT Collectables is a family-run, community-focused store. We love seeing people share their pulls, purchases and experiences at HBT, but our store is first and foremost a space for our community to shop, play and hang out — not a public filming location.

Our store is regularly attended by families, young children and junior TCG players, some of whom spend several hours with us participating in organised play and events.

Parents and carers should be able to bring their children into HBT without worrying that they may unexpectedly appear in somebody else's TikTok, Reel, livestream or YouTube video.

For this reason, we have strict rules around photography, video recording, livestreaming and content creation inside HBT Collectables.

🎥 No Spontaneous Video Filming

Under no circumstances do we allow spontaneous general video filming or content creation inside HBT Collectables.

If you would like to film a vlog, TikTok, Reel, YouTube video, interview, event coverage, promotional content or other general video inside our store, this must be arranged with HBT Collectables in advance.

Arriving at the store and asking whether you can start filming immediately is not considered an advance arrangement.

This applies whether you're filming with a phone, camera, GoPro, smart glasses, wearable camera, tripod, microphone or other recording equipment.

Opening packs? Go for it!

We absolutely don't mind you filming your pack openings, cards or pulls while you're at HBT, provided no other people are visible or identifiable in your footage.

If your camera is pointed directly at the table and you're simply recording your cards, packs and hands, you're welcome to film without arranging it with us beforehand.

Just be mindful of what's happening around you. Other customers, players, staff and particularly children and young people should not appear in the background.

In short: filming your packs and cards = no worries. Filming our store or the people in it = organise it with us first.

👧 Children & Young People Come First

This is the most important part of our policy.

HBT Collectables has a large community of children and young people who regularly visit our store, participate in tournaments, learn to play TCGs and attend other activities.

Permission from HBT Collectables to film does not constitute permission to film our customers — particularly children.

If permission to film has been granted, creators are still responsible for ensuring they have appropriate consent from the people appearing in their content.

Extra care must be taken where children and young people may be identifiable.

We may impose additional filming restrictions during junior events or at any other time where we believe it is appropriate to protect the privacy, safety or comfort of children visiting HBT.

If we're not comfortable with how filming may affect the children or families using our space, filming will not be permitted.

📸 Casual Photography

There's a big difference between taking a quick photo of your awesome pull and using HBT as a content creation location.

Casual photos of your own cards, purchases, pulls, decks and products are completely fine.

You're also welcome to photograph yourself or friends who have agreed to be photographed.

Please be mindful of people in the background and avoid deliberately photographing other customers or players without their permission.

🏆 Events & Organised Play

Our tournaments and organised play sessions are primarily spaces for people to play the game and enjoy themselves.

Please don't walk between tables filming matches, position cameras around play areas, conduct interviews with players or record event participants without prior approval from HBT.

This is particularly important during Pokémon and other events where we may have a significant number of junior players in attendance.

Even where filming has been approved, HBT may designate particular people, tables or areas as no-filming areas.

Gameplay and player comfort always take priority over content creation.

🔴 Livestreaming

Livestreaming is not permitted inside HBT Collectables without specific prior approval.

This applies to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and other livestreaming platforms.

Livestreaming presents additional privacy concerns because footage is being publicly transmitted immediately and cannot easily be reviewed before publication.

🎙️ Interviews, Conversations & Audio

Please do not record conversations with customers, players, parents, children, staff or other visitors without their knowledge and appropriate permission.

Permission from HBT to create content inside the store does not automatically provide permission to interview or record the people inside it.

This also applies where audio from private conversations may be clearly captured as part of your recording.

🏪 Approved Filming

If you would like to create video content at HBT, please contact us before your planned visit.

Let us know:

• What you'd like to film

• The purpose of the content

• Where you intend to publish it

• Your proposed date and time

• Approximately how long you would like to film

• Whether customers or event participants are intended to appear

• What filming or audio equipment you intend to use

We'll let you know whether we're able to accommodate the request and whether any additional conditions will apply.

HBT Collectables reserves the right to decline filming requests.

Approved filming must never capture private or sensitive areas or information, including customer transactions, computer screens, paperwork, personal information, security systems or staff-only areas.

🛑 Unauthorised Filming

HBT Collectables is privately operated premises.

Our photography and filming requirements form part of the conditions we set for people using our space.

Anyone undertaking unauthorised video filming will be asked to stop recording immediately.

If you refuse to stop filming when directed by HBT staff, you may be asked to leave the premises. Continued or serious breaches may also result in being refused future entry to HBT Collectables.

Where appropriate, incidents may be documented and reported to Victoria Police, the relevant online platform, the eSafety Commissioner or another appropriate authority.

We take unauthorised filming involving children and young people particularly seriously.

If footage captured at HBT is subsequently published online without appropriate permission, we may also request its removal and/or report the content through the relevant platform's reporting processes where appropriate.

🛑 We May Stop Approved Filming

Even where filming has previously been approved, HBT Collectables staff may ask for filming to pause or stop at any time.

This may happen because:

• A child or family has entered the filming area

• Someone does not want to appear in the content

• Someone has withdrawn their consent

• Filming is interfering with an event or gameplay

• Customers appear uncomfortable

• The filming differs from what was originally approved

• Staff believe continuing to film could compromise someone's privacy, safety or enjoyment of the store

If an HBT staff member asks you to stop recording, recording must stop immediately.

💜 Why We're Strict About This

HBT Collectables is family-run.

We know many of the families who visit us. We get to watch kids learn their first TCG, build their first deck, play their first tournament and become part of our community.

We want parents and carers to know that when they bring their children into HBT, simply being inside our store doesn't automatically make them background content for somebody else's social media.

We're not against content creation — we just want it done respectfully and with appropriate arrangements in place.

Our community's privacy, safety and comfort will always come first.

Please remember that guidance, platform policies and legal obligations can differ depending on what is being recorded, who is being recorded and how that content is subsequently used or published.
